Dr. Torres has a doctorate in Art History from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. She belongs to the National System of Researchers. She is a full-time academician in the Department of Art of Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City. Dr. Torres is a specialist in public artistic interventions and in the aesthetic-political dynamics of the XX and XXI centuries in Mexico. She has conducted studies on the role of cultural diplomacy and the construction of the Mexican image in universal exhibitions. The interest of her research is focused on creating new historiographic narratives considering the political and aesthetic analysis of images and visuality, through theoretical and methodological approaches linked to critical studies regarding Cultural Memory, Postcolonial / Decolonial studies, Image Theory, and Visual Cultures. Currently, Dr. Torres is developing a dissemination project on Muralism in the Historic Center of Mexico City. She is the coordinator of Grupo de Estudios sobre Arte Público-México (GEAP-Latin America) (Group of Studies on Public Art-Mexico) and participates in Red de Estudios Visuales Latinoamericanos (REVLAT) (Network of Latin American Visual Studies).
